The company has achieved export sales of £100,000 and has further orders to Zamil Shipbuilders in the pipeline. It is now looking to expand its overseas markets and take on more staff.

Timbersource was formed in 2001 by Ashley Kemp to supply hardwood and softwood, and has grown into a £1.3m turnover business with 12 employees. Products include timber and timber components from packs and sawn lumber to machined panels.

The Saudi orders came from repeat work the company had gained in Thailand. A UK Trade and Investment adviser helped Timbersource complete the deal.

Mr Kemp said the company was looking to expand overseas sales and had gained orders from Austria and Australia.

UKTI trade adviser Hilary Charman said: "Timbersource benefited from the Passport to Export scheme, which helps new exporters prepare for international trade and provides training, planning and on-going support. The company is an inspiring example of a small British business."
