Finland’s first cross-laminated timber (CLT) factory is due to start production in the summer. Juha Virta has invested €2m in the plant in Kuhmo in eastern Finland, which will have an initial annual capacity of 10,000m3.
Ten new jobs will be created initially, although there is potential for the plant’s capacity to be trebled, at which point the workforce would be increased to 25.
Production will be strictly to order and is expected to have a focus on school building projects.
