The Pahang Forest Management Unit (FMU) has become the second FMU to be awarded a new Certificate of Forest Management against the requirements of the Malaysian Criteria and Indicators for Forest Management Certification (2002).

The award, announced by the Malaysian Timber Certification Council, follows a verification assessment by SGS (Malaysia) during September.

As a result of the assessment, the one remaining major and nine minor corrective action requests on the FMU were resolved.

The certificate will be valid for five years and surveillance audits will be carried out every 12 months to ensure the FMU’s compliance.

The other FMU to receive a new certificate is Negeri Sembilan.
