Son Louis Vandecasteele, who has been involved in the company’s management for several years, has taken over the role of chief executive officer, succeeding his father, Stefaan Vandecasteele. Stefaan Vandecasteele will continue to be active behind the scenes as an adviser.

Vandecasteele Houtimport was founded in 1883 by Louis Vandecasteele and consisted of a wood workshop and a wagon-making shop. In 1919, his son Désiré succeeded him and added a sawmill. He started trading in wood. Urbain Vandecasteele, representing the third generation, succeeded his father and further expanded the business. His business acumen, perseverance, and dedication still form the foundation of the company.

In the fourth generation, Vandecasteele Houtimport made a new quantum leap under the leadership of Stefaan Vandecasteele, who in his early years worked side by side with his father Urbain. Now, Louis, Stefaan’s son, takes over the helm. He is not entering the field unprepared. He is highly qualified and has had the advantage of learning the ropes under the guidance of his dynamic father for years.

It is clear that with this new generational change, great importance is attached to the family character of the company, which is known as a leading supplier of hardwood and softwood.
