The liquidation of the assets of renowned Hull timber merchant NR Burnett Ltd is due to be completed by October 31.

The company, based in W Carr Lane, went into administration on September 12. The liquidation of its entire assets, including a vast range of softwood, hardwood and panel Products, are currently ongoing via an online auction conducted by BPI.

N R Burnett Ltd’s demise in September was lamented by many in the trade at the time including one trader who had described it as “the end of yet another great Hull timber company”, while another said the closure showed the difficulties of today’s market forces. “I always respected their competitiveness whilst working in the timber industry,” said the trader.

Richard Travis, Industrial Specialist at BPI, said the sale presented an opportunity to acquire high-quality, well-maintained pieces of woodworking machinery.

“N R Burnett has been a cornerstone of the timber industry for over eight decades,” he said. “The quality and variety of assets available in this auction are excellent and we have already had a lot of interest.”

On sale are 505 lots, including a big range of woodworking technology include Weinig Powermat moulders, a Holzma Beam Saw, Stenner Band Resaw, delivery vehicles and forklifts. The auction can be accessed at https://shorturl.at/2m1Th

NR Burnett had bought the business and assets of Hull timber merchant, Timber Angel Limited out of administration in January 2023, when nine employees of the latter transferred to Burnetts.
