The company’s group staff were transported to the site on February 23 to view the mill, which will have an increased 350,000m3 sawn timber capacity.
Since the investment decision was made in 2021, a total of 77 new Junnikkala employees have been recruited. Now there are more than 200 employees in the group.
“The company has grown and changed a lot over the past 20 years,” said CEO Kalle Junnikkala at the event after the sawmill tours.
“Maintaining a uniform culture and ways of working has always been important to us and will continue to be so. We want to cherish common values and hold on to Junnikkala's famously good team spirit.”
Sawmill machinery manufacturer Veisto Oy supplied the mill technology for the new mill. Installation began in September 2023, and commissioning took place in December, according to the pre-agreed schedule. The line is expected to operate at 100% capacity in July 2024.
