German sawmilling machinery manufacturer Esterer WD GmbH & Co (EWD), which was rescued from receivership earlier this year is firmly back on the expansion trail. In fact it is launching a marketing campaign aimed at the massive Scandinavian sawmilling market.

EWD’s export manager Jean Bergvall said the company would be exhibiting at the Trä & Teknik/Elmia Timber trade show in Gothenburg, Sweden in August where one of its main aims would be to find a representative in Scandinavia.

The company is not deterred by the fact that many Swedish sawmills have had troubled times in recent months with closures, mergers and takeovers, as it sees Sweden and Finland as two of the world’s leading producers of sawn timber.

On show at Gothenburg will be two pieces of new EWD equipment – technology for high precision curve-sawing and a tandem bandsaw.
