Canadian investment company Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd has significantly increased its involvement in the wood products sector by buying more shares in International Forest Products Ltd (Interfor).

Fairfax has undertaken two share purchases in the last week, first taking its holding to 14.75%, then 19.73%.

This equates to an additional 4,682,000 Class A shares, taking its total holding to 9,097,700.

Fairfax said it “may purchase additional Interfor shares from time to time”, as it “continually reviews its investment alternatives”.
