As well as the latest racking and storage – which has improved handling – making picking faster and more efficient for dealing with customer orders, the two 55,000ft2 warehouses incorporate zonal controlled lighting, CCTV, Combilift trucks with built-in cameras and photovoltaic panels on the roof.
“The increased capacity has allowed us to carry an even wider range of products as well as increased stock levels, so the entire operation in both locations has been scaled up,” said Andy Duffin, operations director at James Latham.
“As well as greatly improved storage and handling, one of the first things customers have noticed is just how much easier access is at both sites which has made collections and deliveries run a lot more efficiently,” he said.
The new technology has also reduced the company’s carbon footprint, making them the greenest depots in the Lathams group.
