Mr Maxwell started the Company in 1959 with one office in central Bristol having relocated from his beloved Newcastle.

Being a very astute businessman and a demanding but very fair employer, he was to create an extremely successful business retiring in the late 1980’s.

Mr Maxwell retained a very keen interest in the company right up to his late eighties, always attending the Annual General Meeting, and challenging his successors with regular phone calls and searching questions.

In his retirement he turned his attention to charity work, raising money to build a number of nursing homes often using materials obtained from Taylor Maxwell.

He himself spent his latter years in a nursing home on the outskirts of Bristol. The Maxwell family still retain a small shareholding in the company.
