The German Sawmill and Timber Industry Federation (DeSH) and the Association of Raw Timber Consumers (AGR) will discuss timber in the context of climate change at their industry meeting in Berlin on March 14-15.

The organisations say the discussion can no longer be postponed. On the one hand, great social hopes rest on the natural and renewable raw material wood, as trees extract CO2 from the atmosphere and the products for construction, packaging or energy produced from it replace harmful materials.

On the other hand, the past record summer showed that the forest itself is a victim of climate change, which endangers these potentials.

During the two day event, the associations will discuss the consequences of climate change along the entire value chain.
