By the end of this year, we will have distributed an all-time record amount of circa £175,000 of regular allowances and other benefits to beneficiaries.

Our beneficiaries are helped in many ways with a combination of grants and allowances, including quarterly payments, TV licences, telephone allowances, payments in the spring and at Christmas, a winter fuel allowance and luxury Christmas hampers. We also make one-off grants for domestic appliances and disabled equipment as well as the occasional respite break, debt relief and help with funeral expenses.

We could not do it without your corporate and individual donations or without the incredible support you give to our National Golf event. In July 2019, this was held at the Marriott Forest of Arden with main sponsorship from Taylor Maxwell Timber. Taylor Maxwell have agreed to sponsor the 2020 event, which will be held at the Marriott Breadsall Priory near Derby on Thursday July 9.

In addition, we benefit from all the proceeds from the other regional golf days, clay shoots, curry nights, lunches, dinners and other social events organised by our nine fantastic Regional TTBS Committees. All these events are regularly updated on our Events page on www.ttbs.org.uk

We continue to seek new beneficiaries and this will be an ongoing priority and, through company’s HR departments, the TTBS strives to ensure employees know where they can get help in the future.

Critically, the Society continues networking with the timber industry to ensure that we are in the forefront for charity support. During 2019, we have dedicated a great deal of effort in connecting with as many companies and industry associations as possible and we are most grateful to them for the opportunity to do so.

In particular, we would mention TTJ, the London Hardwood Club, the Timber Trade Federation, the regional Timber Trade Associations, the Trussed Rafter Association, the Structural Timber Association, Radar Communications, the Plywood Shippers Lunch and NPPD Dinner and the Plywood Luncheon Club who have given us financial support and the opportunity to speak directly to the senior industry representatives at their respective events.

Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish you, your families and all your business colleagues a very happy festive period and a healthy and successful 2020.
