Postsaver, which has been manufacturing its Pro-Sleeve ground line barrier sleeves since 1994 and have sold millions globally for use on both fencing and utility poles, commissioned a European Standard EN252 1989 Field Test on their patented Pro-Sleeves 20 years ago.
The company said the results were particularly welcome in anticipation of creosote products being banned in the near future.
Richard George, CEO of Postsaver, said independent testing was important to back customer confidence in the product.
He said customer feedback had indicated that buyers choose the company’s products because of its visible protection and design to prevent ground rot in fence and gate posts.
Mr George described sales of the product as “extremely encouraging” even in the current economic climate.
Postsaver sleeves is feature a heat-shrinkable sleeve lined with a meltable, bituminous liner.
They are heat applied to wooden fence and gate posts to create an air and watertight barrier around the vulnerable ground line section of the post.
