The publication supports the ongoing education campaign by WPA, TTF and TDCA, to raise awareness within the wood supply chain for the accurate specification of preservative treated wood products. It provides the latest advice and recommendations for the correct specification, description, treatment, handling and use of preservative treated timber – ideal for specifiers, treatment plant managers and operators and those involved with using treated wood.
Late last year BSI confirmed that the current British Standard relating to wood preservation, BS 8417 was not going to be revised for some time. As this standard has not been updated since 2014 and until BSI are able to carry out a review, the new WPA code of practice will fulfil the need in the UK market for up to date, authoritative guidance and standards on wood protection.
The new publication and subsequent editions, replaces the former WPA Manual: Industrial Wood Preservation – Specification and Practice.
The new code of practice is available to download free of charge from the WPA website. Find it in the RESOURCE CENTRE under Preservative Treatments: www.thewpa.org.uk/resource-centre
