Some forest regeneration projects in the Highlands have been badly damaged by wildfires fanned by high winds.
The National Trust for Scotland reported that flames swept a pine plantation at Kintail.
Hundreds of firefighters as well as firefighting helicopters have been involved in efforts to contain the fires.
Dozens of other wildfires have been reported across the Highlands, as well as in England, such as in Swinley Forest, Berkshire, where four major fires were reported in its Scots pine. Blazes were also being fought in Northern Ireland.
Last month was the warmest April on record in the UK, with some areas not experiencing rain for weeks. The dry conditions and high winds over the May Bank Holiday weekend created perfect conditions for wildfires to spread.
