When Roddy Hamilton embarked on his farm diversification project, a glamping destination in north Yorkshire called The Private Hill, he had one eye on guest experience and the other on guest safety.

The geodesic dome structures, luxuriously finished with fully en suite facilities and sitting on an exposed hillside, taking full advantage of the glorious views, are complemented by Gripsure non-slip decking.

“We supplied 300m2 of our Gripsure Premier range,” said Tom Anderson, Gripsure’s head of sales, UK and Ireland. “The boards are thicker than our residential ranges, giving a robust finish.

“Half of the boards were pre-cut to 1.2m for easy installation on the walkways around the domes, while the other boards, for the outdoor seating areas, were supplied in standard lengths.”

Gripsure decking has a 10-year non-slip warranty and Roddy Hamilton, owner and founder of The Private Hill said that many guests had commented on its excellent non-slip properties.

“It has proved itself time and time again over the icy winter months,” he said.

Gripsure’s Premier deck boards were also specified for the Woodlands family-run resort in Glencoe, Scotland.

Here they were used for the private verandas and around the hot tubs of the ‘RiverBeds Luxury Wee Lodges’. Individual decking boardwalks and steps were also incorporated, weaving guests through the trees and safely up to their accommodation.

“Being in a Scottish woodland, the forest floor is often wet, especially in the long winter months,” said Mr Anderson. “With the lodges being booked all year round, guest safety was key. Timber decking was chosen to blend in with the natural environment alongside the timber clad lodges.

“The risk of slips is heightened on steps and hot tubs areas, so using the Gripsure boards ensured the guests could safely enjoy their time in the forest retreat.”
