Russian company Ilim Timber has concluded its purchase of two sawmills from German producer Klausner.
Under the deal, worth more than €100m, Ilim has bought Klausner Nordic Timber and Klausner Holz Bayern, as well as a new Linck line which Klausner had not installed.
Ilim Timber Europe has been established and the mills will be renamed Ilim Nordic Timber and Ilim Timber Bavaria respectively.
Carsten Doehring, formerly with Klausner, has been appointed as chief operating officer.
A co-operation agreement between the two companies is in place until the end of the year.
“This allows us to enter the European market organically and keep up the competitive advantages for which Klausner Group is famous,” said Ilim chief executive officer Mikhail Kokrich.
