Substantial savings in gas bills are anticipated at Hertfordshire-based The Real Door Company which has invested in a Weima shredder to turn its hardwood offcuts into boiler fuel.

The company had been using extracted sawdust and sanding dust from production machines to fuel its 1 million BTU wood fired boiler and provide space heating for the factory – but there was never quite enough.

As the business grew, hardwood offcuts from cross-cut and panel saws and straight line edgers began to pile up on the factory floor, and the decision was made to utilise them.

Now they are loaded into the Weima WL 4 model’s wide hopper opening which has a fully automatic shredder featuring Weima’s patented V-rotor system with hardened steel knives and concave ground corners, four times reversible for high output.

Prices of the shredders, which can also handle other woodwaste including panels, range from £15,000-150,000.
