The Benlowe Group, incorporating Bennett Windows of Ratby and Cannock-based timber staircase specialist Thomas Lowe Joinery, has achieved ‘a significant landmark’ in recording a seven-figure turnover for May.

According to chief executive Clyve Perkin, it was the first time under any management that the two companies had achieved a combined turnover exceeding £1m in a single month, representing a more than 20% increase over the same month last year.

And Mr Perkin believed the £1m mark would be bettered in June given the amount of work on both companies’ books and the fact that the month was not disrupted by bank holidays.

Mr Perkin attributed the bumper period of trading to ‘a combination of delayed site activity due to the bad weather and builders now running to catch up’.

In the first half of its current financial year ending in March, the Benlowe Group increased its window sales by 11% to £3.7m and its stairs turnover by 8% to £1.24m. Operating profits over the six-month period were around 40% higher than in the corresponding period of last year as a result of improved efficiency, according to the group.
