Laminate flooring from Gründorf uses a synthetic latex sound reduction system which the company says makes it ‘one of the quietest’ available.

The Maison range will be showcased at the Harrogate Floor Show in September.

The flooring incorporates Gründorf’s new Molecular Absorb System (MAS) which, it says, absorbs noise more efficiently than thicker and heavier backing systems.

Testing at an independent German laboratory in Dresden showed a 50% reduction in reflective and transmitted sound from normal footfall and Gründorf’s UK sales director John Hone believes this will make it ideal for apartments.

He said: ‘It’s an extremely important sales pitch, if only because in some apartment buildings they actually forbid the use of floor coverings that produce too much noise. Laminates have suffered from this in the past.’

The MAS system makes the flooring lighter, the use of AquaPrevent improves swell resistance in damp conditions and the absence of solvents and toxins makes it environment-ally-friendly.
