Idaho-based Lloyd Lumber will close its doors at the end of the year, bringing 91 years of timber trading to an end.
Falling house prices and a slump in the construction of new homes combined with a poor economic picture, led to losses at Lloyd, started by Northwest Nazarene University founder Eugene Emerson in 1919.
The company, which is based in Nampa, initially looked at plans to move from its 14th Avenue South location and consolidate its downtown and Karcher Road facilities.
But after making losses for the last three years, it decided to completely close operations.
Employee numbers have reduced from 150 to just 35 in the past four years.
Stock and machinery will be sold prior to the closure.
