The Association of Professional Foresters conference – cancelled in April because of foot and mouth disease – will now take place on September 18.

Entitled ‘Certification – is it working’, it will be held at Burleigh Court International Conference Centre, Loughborough, Leicestershire.

Delegates are expected to attend from the Canadian High Commission, Malaysian Timber Council, Finnish Forest Industries Association, Spain, the Czech Republic and Ireland.

Speakers will include representatives from the Forest Stewardship Council UK Working Group, SGS Qualifor, Pan European Forest Certification Council UK Ltd, Tilhill Economic Forestry, UK Woodland Assurance Scheme, the Wood Panel Industries Federation and B&Q plc.

The conference organisers say the aim is to give a graphic, honest account of how certification is working and how it is affecting everyone from woodland owners and producers to processors and consumers.

The APF’s AGM and conference dinner will be held on September 17.
