A merger between the Timber Growers Association (TGA) and the Association of Professional Foresters (APF) has moved a step closer with the publication of a joint document setting out the proposal.
The aim is to create a new forestry body – the Association of Timber Growers and Forestry Professionals -– and comments are invited from all interested parties.
The merger is designed to give both organisations ‘a powerful, independent voice to lead, influence and gain respect from industry and government’.
Public discussion of the proposal will take place at the APF Conference, to be held at Loughborough on September 17, followed by the APF annual general meeting, and at TGA regional meetings during October.
Both memberships will make a decision at extraordinary general meetings called for November 7.
