Montague L Meyer Ltd was named Timber Trader of the Year at the TTJ Awards held at the Savoy Hotel last week.

Chief executive Colin Webb accepted the award from sponsors the Bank of Ireland after his company won most votes across all categories.

TTJ readers voted for Montague L Meyer for its ‘efficiency in service and delivery’, ‘outstanding service and good prices’ and ‘friendly staff who know their stuff’.

The fifth annual awards were hailed the most successful yet, with more than 300 guests and with Michael Portillo MP proving an excellent guest speaker.

The Specialist Hardwood Trader of the Year, sponsored by Irion Sideloaders Ltd, was won by International Timber of Colchester. Specialist Softwood Trader of the Year, sponsored by UCM Timber plc, was won by David Cover & Son of Chichester, while Panels Trader of the Year, sponsored by Willamette Europe, was won by Finnforest (UK) Ltd.

James Latham plc took the Plywood Trader of the Year, sponsored by Lord Forest Products, while the General Trader of the Year, sponsored by Kerridge Computer Company, went to Howarths Timber Importers Ltd of New Holland.

The Small Business of the Year award, sponsored by Osmose, was scooped by Neat Concepts Ltd of London. International Decorative Surfaces won the Excellence in Marketing Award, sponsored by Gerling Namur.

A special award was given to the Wood for Good campaign.
