A Rye CMS PF 112 CNC router has helped furniture maker Parker Knoll develop a new product range.

The machine enabled the company to go ahead with a previously delayed research and development programme and this resulted in the launch of new motion furniture (with moving parts) and a wider range of recliners.

Parker Knoll says the PF 112, installed at its Chipping Norton factory, has eliminated a sawing operation which was previously necessary before machining panels and is also saving on materials because of nested machining. It can produce more components from a single sheet with faster cycle times and its fast set-up and changeover times have led to higher productivity and lower costs.

The Rye PF range retails from £100,000 to £160,000.
