Sabah Timber Association chairman Andrew Tham has warned that the East Malaysian state is over-logged and its timber supply has run out.

He has called on the timber industry to ‘take a breather’ and allow Sabah’s forest to regenerate adding: ‘Otherwise we will have nothing to harvest.’

Mr Tham says that last year about 3.5 million m³ of logs were harvested in the state but says the amount is unlikely to reach 2 million m³ this year.
