An Anderson CNC router Type 1631 has been installed by INpress to deal with increasing work flow and the need to address ever-larger single panel sizes.

INpress, the Hinckley-based CNC routing and membrane pressing division of bedroom furniture manufacturer Hammonds Group, now has four CNC routers, including an existing Anderson.

The new addition has a table size of 1,600mm x 3,100mm which will allow the company to cope with increasing demands for larger panel sizes.

The router, an investment of £154,000 for INpress, is linked to a CAD system in the drawing office which positions panels of all sizes for optimisation of the processing layout.

Production manager Mark Branson said the working heads accelerate and decelerate automatically which allows the cutting or profiling of bigger corner radii to be done faster and with greater precision.

Each of two working heads carries an eight tool auto change disc system and floating head controls to maintain working depths and to compensate for variations in panel thickness.

The router’s Inospan vacuum table features an in-built system of 24 pop-up positioning stops and a system of manually positioned vacuum clamps.

Individual panels, large or small, can be positioned at any point on the worktable. A matrix of precision ground groove tracks and seal plugs allow the manually positioned clamps and CNC pop-up stops to be quickly positioned either for repeat working or for immediate change to new batch work right down to single panels.
