Key timber transport issues will be addressed at a Timber Transport Forum seminar on May 7.
The event, which is in response to the growing UK timber harvest, is at the Hilton Dunblane Hydro in Perthshire and will include speeches on rail transport barriers, land-locked timber, water transport, and overcoming road transport congestion.
An introductory address given by a Scottish Executive minister will be followed by Scottish Enterprise‘s Steven Paxton talking to delegates about tackling rail barriers; David Killer, of Forest Civil Engineering, looking at forest road solutions; Frank Roach, of Highland Rail Partnership, presenting on how to get land-locked timber to the marketplace; and John Bryson of East Ayrshire Council, who will speak about planning controls in south-west Scotland.
Other speakers will include Stephen Lavery, of Tillhill Harvesting; Richard Scott, of BSW Timber; and Barrie Hudson, of the Forestry Contracting Association
