Liz Faulkner, the managing director of MDF panel finishing business Color-Board, has said that, despite earlier announcements, the company is not, after all, going to sell up.

She explained: ‘A bad debt last year put us in a difficult position and, just before Easter, I got so fed up I decided to sell the business.’

Ms Faulkner told her workforce and also put the word out in the trade but said: ‘Then I took a look at what we have got and decided it was too much to give up. We are good at what we do – and all we need is some more sales.’

The company is currently priming a lot of MDF for the construction and printing industries, and also providing MDF for the shopfitting sector.

Ms Faulker said: ‘There is increasing demand for primed products and our turnaround is very quick.’

‘I am going to have another go at it. I need to get back on track in the eyes of the industry and our customers.’
