A 36% increase in lumber prices helped Canfor Corporation to a first quarter profit of C$11.1m.
The company’s wood products group recorded an operating income of C$37.2m compared to an operating loss of C$13.8m the previous quarter.
Canfor’s shipments were 10% higher than the previous quarter due to higher seasonal demand, while 2×4 SPF random lengths lumber prices averaged US$266 per thousand bd ft.
