Lambeth College, already well-known for its building and construction training, is now officially a Centre of Vocational Excellence for Construction.
One of the largest schools of construction in the country, it recruits 1,300 students a year onto a wide range of construction programmes at all levels. These include building construction, carpenty and wood machining.
With its new recognition, the college will receive £300,000 this year to develop its construction facilities and build closer links with industry and higher education.
Principal Adrian Perry said: ‘This is not just great news for the college – it’s really good news for the construction industry whose expansion is being held back by skills shortages.
