Barry Lewis officially handed over the reins of president of the Timber Trades Benevolent Society to his successor Brian Bauckham at the organisation’s AGM last week.

Mr Lewis told the London meeting that Mr Bauckham had already made a major contribution to the work of the TTBS in the Humberside area and was ‘held in a great deal of respect and esteem’ in the trade.

‘He’s a friend to many in the industry and a supporter of all things timber,’ he said. ‘He has raised thousands of pounds for the society and it is fitting that such a man should be president for the coming year.’

In response, Mr Bauckham thanked Mr Lewis for his commitment to the TTBS.

‘He is one of the best presidents we have had,’ he said. ‘His dynamic, engaging personality has enabled him to get people to part with their money for the Society and he has been compassionate and benevolent in his dealings with its beneficiaries. As a trustee, he will still be with us to give help and advice.’

Ian Menzies, of RJC Agencies Ltd, was elected as vice-president.
