Travis Perkins Group has opened its 1,200th branch in the UK, signalling the continued growth of the firm.
The Tile Giant outlet in Weston-super-Mare is the latest addition to the group, which opened its 600th Travis Perkins (TP) timber and building supplies branch in Epsom in May.
It has also acquired 30% of Toolstation Ltd as part of an improvement of its multi-channel strategy, as well as opening eco-centres across the UK offering environmentally conscious building products and systems.
“1n 1988, we could not have predicted that within 20 years we would be opening branch number 1,200,” said the group’s trade marketing director, Linda Doughty.
“This is an important milestone for TP, whose continued growth is a result of focusing on our customers and delivering what they need.”
TP reported sales of £3.1bn in 2007, with pre-tax profits up 18.7% to £261.4m.
