The International Forest Fest 2002 (IFF 2002) got a double boost this week with news it is to host a royal visit and receive major sponsorship from the UPM-Kymmene Group.
IFF 2002 is due to be held at Lockerbie on September 25-28 and HRH The Princess Royal is to visit on the opening day. The organisers say her presence will bring a much needed boost to an industry which has suffered badly as a result of foot and mouth and suffered trading difficulties.
And Roger Hay, chairman of the IFF 2002 organising committee, says the involvement of UPM-Kymmene adds to the high profile of the festival which is billed as the biggest international forestry event ever held in the UK.
