A 610hp Doppstadt shredder is helping Manchester-based Boden’s Timber Products expand its wood recycling activities.

The £400,000 DZ 750 Kombi machine, only the second to be sold in the UK since its launch in May, is being used to process up to 1,200-1,400 tonnes a week of waste wood, including demolition timber and pallets, into high quality woodchips for the chipboard industry.

Charles Boden, director, said: “We have doubled our wood recycling operation over the last two years and we opted for the two-in-one shredder because of its high throughput, which gives us capacity for further expansion, and the machine’s ability to handle a wide range of wood waste and residues.”

The 35 tonne/hour Kombi, designed to handle bulkier and more contaminated wood, combines a slow speed single shaft shredding unit with a high speed hamermill shredder, both wih overband magnets to remove ferrous contamination.

The slow speed unit acts as a pre-crusher, removing the heavier metal contamination and eliminating tramp material before the wood waste is further processed by the shredder. A choice of rear sizing gates from 30mm-280mm allow for a wide range of end product markets.
