The Forestry Commission, Aberdeen-based Robert Gordon University (RGU) and the Association of Scottish Hardwood Sawmillers are behind guidance material designed to support a perceived growth in demand for Scottish hardwoods.

This includes an information note prepared by RGU’s Una Lee which presents the key findings of a study into the supply of timber products to the mainstream building industry in Scotland. The publication identifies core customers, describes the processes/procedures that influence purchasing decisions, and identifies the key characteristics of a successful timber product supplier to the building industry.

The other publications cover Scottish hardwood flooring in particular: a colour leaflet describes flooring options, characteristics and availability; while a guidance document from RGU offers advice to specifiers, purchasers, contractors and the home build market on the installation and maintenance of solid hardwood flooring.
