A new dust extraction system has cleaned up factory air at a bespoke kitchen cabinet maker and created space for future expansion.
The Dust Pollution Systems technology was installed at Romsey Cabinetmakers in Hampshire following the purchase of a SCM spindle moulder and a Sedgwick tenoner. The combined investment was about £60,000.
The rotary valve extraction system, mounted on an exterior steel gantry, was designed to allow for increased manufacturing capacity by shooting the waste directly into skips and is operated by a purpose-built control panel.
External noise levels have been minimized by the housing of the main 6,800cfm extractor fan in an acoustic enclosure.
Clip ducting was used to allow for future changes in machinery locations and new installations.
The company reports that airborne dust has disappeared and staff have been freed up from emptying sacks into skips.
