Timber frame specialist Carpenter Oak & Woodland has invested in a new Kramer 418 telescopic loader to handle tree trunks and large pieces of timber at its Wiltshire yard.

According to Tim Walton, woodlands products manager, the machine is the most significant purchase in the company’s 15-year history.

The company spent six months assessing the loader market, ruling out equipment that was too large or offered limited visibility. “The Kramer 418 is the perfect size for us and provides excellent visibility of the handling equipment,” said Mr Walton.

Besides forks, the machine has been supplied with an hydraulic log grab designed for handling large trunks and long, awkward pieces of timber. “Besides greatly increasing our capacity and productivity,” said Mr Walton, ” the Kramer has also improved the safety of our whole operation.”
