Alsford Timber has acquired East Sussex-based Flint Timber for an undisclosed sum.

Flint’s extensive machining facilities will be transferred to Alsford’s Erith site and the timber operation will relocate to its Hailsham branch.

Alsford managing director John Griffiths said: “Flint Timber, which has a turnover of more than £1m, was mainly a trade business and we are delighted to have acquired it as it will strengthen our position in East Sussex.”

Mike Watson, managing director of Flint Timber, said his shareholders had decided to withdraw from the timber sector in order to concentrate on developing the company’s interest in property development.

Alsford Timber has 17 branches in the south-east.
