A planing machine and part of a warehouse have been damaged by fire at Snows Timber’s Glastonbury site.

Snows’ managing director Jim Peryer told TTJ that a planer which produced bespoke mouldings in the company’s old mill caught fire on September 11.

“Any fire is serious,” said Mr Peryer, “but the impact on the business is minimal. It has been a minor disruption with about half a day’s production lost and no customers have been affected.

“The machine is a bit of a mess and there is a small amount of damage to the warehouse.”

Mr Peryer said the machine did not produce standard mouldings. Other machines will now take on the bespoke work.

He praised staff and the fire service for their quick response.
