Irish foresters Niall OCarroll and Paidrac Joyce have collated information amassed over the past 50 years to write a book “Sitka Spruce in Ireland”.

Published by COFORD, the National Council for Forest Research and Development, the publication gives information about the most suitable sites for the species, how it should be managed, and its wood properties and uses.

COFORD has also published “Forest Mammals – Management and Control” which gives descriptions of the range of mammal species of importance to forestry and practical advice on how to limit the damage they can cause to plantations.
