The Russian government plans to invest 700 billion roubles ( £14 billion) into the country’s timber industry over the next 13 years, according to the Russian Business Monitor news agency.
The deputy minister of industry, science and technology, Sergei Mitin, wants the investment to provide for the active export of products with high added value.
He said that just 34 billion roubles was invested in the sector in the last two years.
