National housebuilder Wilson Connolly (Wilcon) has issued a bullish trading update saying it performed strongly in the second half of 2002. But it says it will reduce production at its Prestoplan timber frame plant.
The company says it is confident about 2003, with forward sales totalling more than 1,250 units – an 85% increase on the same time last year.
Wilcon aims for Prestoplan to meet an external customer target of 75% this year but expects production to reduce to about 20% of the group’s total number of homes built.
Chairman Allan Leighton said: “We have made tremendous progress in getting the group back on track. We are meeting or exceeding all of our targets in a trading environment that remains very robust.”
The group’s preliminary financial results will be released on February 26.
