Furniture craftsman Joseph Keaney from Glenfarne Wood Products, Co Leitrum, has been named as the overall winner of the Furncert Advanced Programme. Developed by Enterprise Ireland in conjunction with the University of Limerick, Dublin Institute of Technology and the Furniture Technology Centre, the emphasis of the programme is on management and technical issues that impact on the furniture and timber industries.
Finian Dardis, technical director of Leo Wright Ltd, Co Westmeath, said: “It is very important and healthy for the Irish furniture industry to have a facility like Furncert to bring people together and make them realise how much we have in common and that one of our main goals is to compete against imports.”
