Specialist redwood importer RH Wilson of Cumbria is moving to larger premises to boost efficiency.
The new facility, at Tebay just off junction 38 of the M6, will double storage capacity to 20,000ft² of covered and 20,000ft² of outside storage. The new facility will accommodate 1,500m³ of redwood.
The move comes after 11 years of continuous growth that has pushed turnover to the £2m mark and seen the company outgrow its existing premises.
Managing director Richard Wilson said the new location would increase efficiency by speeding turnaround times.
He said: ‘Lead times are very short and we have got to be able to load up quickly in the evening so that they are away at the crack of dawn. This will make the stock much more accessible because at the moment we are pretty cramped.’
