BSW Timber plc‘s Latvian sawmill has become the first outside the UK to achieve accreditation to the DeckMark quality assurance scheme.
The scheme is based on recognised quality assurance standards – ISO 9000, EN45011/12 and ISO Guide 62/65 – and confirms compliance to best practice guidance and relevant British Standards.
Timber Decking Association chairman Alan Mellor said: ‘The accreditation of this plant in Latvia is a clear sign that the leading suppliers recognise the consumer benefits of marketing DeckMark quality materials. It should also serve as an encouragement to other overseas suppliers of deck materials who take UK consumer needs seriously to pursue DeckMark accreditation.’
