Timber frame design has been used in an innovative flagship housing project aimed at developing sustainable and integrated neighbourhoods.

Blyth-based Timber Frame Solutions (TFS) designed, manufactured and erected a timber frame system for 33 energy efficient, environmentally-friendly flats and terraced houses as part of Swaythling Housing Society’s £2.5m Mason Moor regeneration programme in Southampton.

The panel system for external walls comprises 140mm stud framework with 9mm OSB and Kingspan insulation, providing a U-value of 0.241W/m2K. External facing is brickwork, cedar boarding and render.

TFS also made the 89mm stud timber frame internal partition walls, installed the 300mm Masonite Beam intermediate floors with 22mm chipboard and V313 peel clean floor decking and erected the fink truss roof.
