An 11% increase in engineered timber sales helped Boise Building Solutions record net profits of US$39.7m during 2002.

The strong sales growth in LVL, I-joists and laminated beams more than offset a sales decline in panels. A 6% rise in building materials distribution was also recorded.

Plywood and particleboard sales volumes and selling prices reduced, in part due to excess market supply of plywood and decreased demand for particleboard. OSB sales and selling prices rose by 7% and 3% respectively.

Average prices for lumber products increased 4% in 2002, while sales volumes decreased by 1%.

Boise Cascade Corporation’s group results were US$7.4bn sales and US$11.3m net profits in 2002.
