A group of NGOs has released a dossier on alleged illegal logging activity by Dutch timber firms in Cameroon.
The “new evidence” from Greenpeace, Centre pour l’Environnement et le Developpement and Forests Monitor comes as the European Union prepares to publish an action plan to tackle illegal logging and trade.
One of the Dutch firms is accused of logging a 14km2 area outside the boundaries of its allocated cutting permit, reaping timber estimated to be worth about €1.5m.
