An Essex shopfitter which counts Ralph Lauren, Harrods and Selfridges among its clients is continuing its policy of investment by adding a further machine to its recently opened factory.

The addition of an SCM five-head multi-axis CNC router to Guildprime Ltd’s Billericay site during April is the latest in a long line of technological improvements in woodworking machinery costing about £350,000 in the past two years.

The company’s move to the new site from Rayleigh at the end of last year was in itself a “major” investment.

Joint managing director Kevin Potter said: “We had grown so that we were occupying a number of different industrial units in Rayleigh. The move to Billericay has enabled us to consolidate into one site, and we have ensured we have space to grow.”

Machinery bought for the four acre 65,000ft2 site included an SCM spindle moulder, two Robland panel saws and spray booths from Spray Booth Technologies. A Butfering drumsander was an earlier purchase.

Wood Waste Control (Engineering) Ltd supplied a dust extraction system, to serve the machines, while Ranheat provided a woodburning and heating facility. Both systems integrate, together with a Reinbold AZR 800S chipper, and eliminate the need for waste skips, providing all year heating for the factory.

The WFS/13/2J two-module silo filter has a 2 metre rotary valve beneath the hopper and two regeneration cleaning fans. The main 33in fan can handle the 8,000cfm throughput at the required resistance.

Mr Potter added: “The new system has cut our waste disposal bills from £2,000 to just £100 each month.”
